Alan Freedman works as a consultant pharmacist in Melbourne providing medication reviews to people at home and in the aged care setting. His interest in Israel advocacy and Jewish issues expanded about 20yrs ago when he started writing letters to the editors of Australian newspapers.
At that time, several similarly interested people in Melbourne were meeting monthly and over time, a need for a grassroots Israel advocacy organisation was identified and Alan, with some others, then founded Australian Voices for Israel which disseminated information to people via the newly emerging internet.
For 5yrs from 2014, Alan co-hosted the very popular ‘Nothing Left’ with Michael Burd, a weekly 2hr programme on J-Air community radio that presented discussion and interviews on Israel advocacy, the Middle East, and issues of interest to the Jewish community.
Alan was involved in the formation of the AJA in 2018 and has served as its vice-president since that time.
Alan is an experienced interviewer and hosts the highly successful weekly Zoom events presented by the Australian Jewish Association, and also broadcasts regular video editorials on controversial issues as they arise..
Alan is an active member of the Orthodox Jewish community and has served as president of two Melbourne synagogues.
